Perth and Kinross Society for the Blind is one of the longest established charities in Perth. It began providing services for visually impaired people in the town in 1866 and now acts as an Agent for Perth and Kinross Council on behalf of their statutory obligations as well as continuing its charitable function. The area now covered is the whole of Perth and Kinross amounting to over 2000 square miles.
The Society is increasingly dependent upon voluntary donations and legacies to enable it to continue to develop its services for those with poor sight.
The Society is governed by a Board of Directors, half of whom have a visual impairment, and we encourage comment and active participation in the Society's affairs by the users of our services.
The Society has a Resource Room and modern facilities at St. Paul's Centre where a wide range of aids are available for demonstration and sale. Information leaflets on a wide variety of subjects are also available.
