Perth Macular Disease Group

The Perth Macular Disease Group is one of 200 throughout the country who are supported by the Macular Disease Society. The Macular Disease Society is a registered charity whose aim is to build confidence and independence for those suffering from Central Vision Loss, which affects one's ability to read, see fine detail and recognise faces.

The Perth Macular Disease Group meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 10:30am when coffee is served. The meeting closes at 12 noon and a sandwich lunch can be ordered for those who wish it. Most months there is a speaker and a variety of topics are covered.

The Perth group have set up a new service for people with Macular Degeneration. It is a support desk within Perth and Kinross Society for the Blind to supply help and information to people diagnosed with Macuar Degeneration, their families and carers. The desk is manned on Monday mornings, but a short message etc can be left on the answer machine and a trained volunteer will return the call with information.
